My Liver Rescue 3:6:9 Journal: Day One!

Liver Rescue 3:6:9 Journal

Day One!

I am the proud owner of all of Anthony William’s books. I can’t say that I’ve read them all cover to cover but I am a fan and follower. His story is too unbelievable to not be true and his insight into the human body is remarkable! I have been drinking celery juice and heavy metal detox smoothies off and on for a couple of years and his name often comes up in sessions with my health coaching clients.  I have led a few group cleanses over the past few years but have never personally tried one of the Medical Medium’s. I was curious about trying his Liver Rescue 3:6:9 when I first read about it when his Liver Rescue book was released, but it never seemed like the right time. (an excuse, I know!)

I have come to believe that food is medicine over the past 10 years or so but I didn’t always think this way. I was a sugar and carb junkie for most of my life. I loved the stuff and I just couldn’t get enough of it. I was a big fan of sweets: Coca-cola, cookie dough and icing out of the can were some of my favorites. I also loved white bread, kool-aid and chocolate milk. Honestly, I can’t think of a single sweet or carb that I don’t enjoy! My favorite dessert was (and still is even though I choose not to eat it) a warm chocolate brownie with ice cream.  Delicious!

I was forced into clean-eating after being diagnosed with multiple auto immune diseases and lingering mysterious symptoms (a blog post for another time!). Over the years, I started to notice health improvements with my healthier lifestyle and became amazed at the power that food actually holds. Anthony William’s books really hit home with me. I love his beliefs in food as medicine.

Fast forward to the great Quarantine of 2020 and my excuses for not giving Liver Rescue 3:6:9 a try didn’t seem to hold much water any longer. I have the time, the flexibility in my schedule and the desire to attempt this cleanse for the benefit of my body and my liver.

The idea actually popped into my head only this morning at 3:30am as I was having trouble sleeping. I’m not even sure where the idea came from- divine intervention maybe? I laid tossing and turning in my bed for at least an hour before finally giving up and getting out of bed to find my copy of Liver Rescue. Interestingly enough, the Medical Medium writes that our livers start to wake up at three or four in the morning to “get back to work”. Again, divine intervention?

I flipped straight to the Liver Rescue 3:6:9 chapter (which I already had flagged), scanned it and started making my grocery list. My favorite line on my grocery list on the Notes app of my phone is “apples, apples, apples”!

I knew that the 3:6:9 was is something that I was ready to implement and I quickly became excited about the prospect. Am I the only one who gets excited about a cleanse? I get excited about the changes that I can make in my body and how I can improve my health. Personally, I am coming off of 2 vacations and 6 weeks of quarantining. Needless to say, my body and my liver could use a reset!

Once it was normal waking hours, I grabbed my mask and was set to head out to the grocery store to be one of the first in line when it opened. But not before I drank 16 ounces of lemon water. I wish I would have taken a picture of my grocery basket! It was pretty full before I even left the produce area.

Although celery juice is not a required part of Day One, since it is already a part of my morning routine, I went ahead and juiced celery when I returned home. It kept me going through my wiping down of all of the groceries.

My excitement over the Rescue created more positivity and energy that led me to reorganize my pantry (for the second time during the Quarantine). I don’t know about you, but I have not at all been motivated for such organizational projects around the house as so many other people are who post their endeavors on Facebook and Instagram. I was feeling pretty proud of myself for mustering up the desire, especially after waking up at 3:30am!

My husband and I ran out to buy flowers for our garden, which only increased my happiness! As soon as we returned, I made a beautiful Liver Rescue Smoothie. It was too pretty not to take a picture of, so I had my daughter snap a pic to post on my business Instagram story.

My morning was going well, until I made the mistake that I urge my clients who participate in my cleanses never to make…..I let myself get hungry without being prepared for my next meal. Not good. This is where people can get into trouble and completely give up during a cleanse. Luckily, and as Anthony William attests, there is plenty of room for snacking on the 3:6:9. Thank goodness! I reached for a couple of apples and dates to munch on while I prepped lunch. I made the Roasted Veggie Pasta from the Liver Rescue book. My apples & dates held me over until it was ready.

My early morning finally caught up to me around 4pm, so I took a little nap after my afternoon meditation. Just what the doctor ordered.

During my meditation, I had the idea to start a blog to record my 3:6:9 journey. Honestly, my reasons are slightly selfish: to hold myself accountable to complete the full 9 days. I have learned through my work as a health coach that accountability is one of the keys to any successful program. But if I can also inspire others to give Liver Rescue 3:6:9 a shot or even clean eating a try, all the more reason to blog about my cleanse.

The 3:6:9 starts off pretty easy over the first 3 days, so I was able to eat a “normal” dinner with my family. Tonight’s menu was shrimp over zucchini noodles.

I drank my 16 ounces of water and hibiscus tea before bed and called Day One a success! Will my excitement continue?

What is Sugar doing in your body?

What is sugar doing in your body? I've dealt with sugar addiction for my whole life! Those food companies are so smart! They know how to keep us addicted. In fact, they have something called the "bliss point". They know exactly how much sugar and chemicals to put into processed food to keep us going back for more.😨 Kicking the sugar habit has been a lifelong process for me. I know how good it tastes and how hard it can be to stay away. 🍫🍪🍩🍨🍦 As a Health & Life Coach, I believe in almost everything in moderation. There are some exceptions of course (as there are to almost any rule). Some of us have allergies to certain foods. Others of us have aversions or sensitivities. These are some reasons for cutting certain foods or food groups completely out of your diet. But for the most part, I believe that we should be able to enjoy what tastes good on occasion. Does this mean we should indulge on a daily basis in processed foods, alcohol and foods that we know don...

What is a Health & Life Coach? ......and why I decided to become one......

Health & Life Coaches have been around for quite some time. But if you are anything like I was, you had never considered them much or had a complete misunderstanding of what a coach actually is and does. For this reason, I wanted to give you a little more information.   To begin with, I think it is helpful to discuss what a coach is NOT. A good coach is not someone who tells you what to eat, how much to exercise or how to behave in order to be healthy and happy. How does that land for you? Is that upsetting? Like maybe you were thinking, “why can’t I just pay someone to tell me how to lose weight/have energy/feel my best/have a fulfilling career/get the most out of my relationship?” After all, that would solve all of my problems, right? Wrong!   The fact of the matter is, most of us already know what we SHOULD be doing. We have a general idea about the kinds of foods we should be eating and how much we should be exercising. We know we should be taking better care of...

My Liver Rescue 3:6:9 Journal: Day 6!

My Liver Rescue 3:6:9 Journal Day 6 I’m taking the time today to celebrate the fact that I have taken this step forward in my health. So often we don’t take time to celebrate the things we have done or are doing. We are so quick to judge ourselves for not doing enough. Not being enough. I have learned through my health coaching, how very important it is to celebrate the small things.  So, yay me! And guess what? If I can do it, you can do it too. Maybe you’re not interested in a cleanse of any sort, but chances are there is something you have in the back of your mind that you are wanting to do for yourself. Do it and then celebrate it. Don’t overthink it. You are worth the time and effort! Ok, so back to the 3:6:9…. I have almost made it to the final phase of this thing!  And I have some advice. First, don’t be too hard on yourself for not being “perfect”. (In doing the 3:6:9 AND in life, but today I will focus on this cleanse!) Yes, it is ...
